This study investigated the reliability and validity of Korean Children¡¯s Somatozation Inventory(K-CSI) for high school students. Subjects were 1,590 first and second grade high school students in Seoul, Busan and Gyeonggi Province. They were assessed by Korean Children¡¯s Somatization Inventory and Somatization Scale of Symptom Checklist-Revised(SCL-90-R). Factor 1 was pain and weakness, Factor 2 was conversion or pseudoneurological symptoms, Factor 3 was gastrointestinal symptoms, Factor 4 was visual symptoms, but factor analysis revealed somewhat different results compared to those of elementary school children. Total score of K-CSI was significantly correlated with every sub-scales. K-CSI was significantly correlated with Somatization Scale of Symptom Checklist-Revised(SCL-90-R). Total and sub scales of K-CSI produced high internal consistency reliability. Girls had significantly higher scores on the K-CSI than did boys. Most commonly reported symptoms were headaches, dizziness, bloating, stomach pain and blurred vision. The implications, limitations of these findings and suggestions for further research were discussed.
